Out of my way I’ve got THINGS todo!

About 2 years ago (approximately) I was introduced to THINGS from a German company, Cultured Code. I learned about it at the Create Chaos Conference held in Orlando Florida. Unfortunately Create Magazine along with the conference is no longer in operation. It was a fun event, shame it never got off the ground.

Anyways, back to THINGS. I basically live on the software. Sadly I am a big todo-lists person. Lists run my day practically. It’s a blessing and a curse. I enjoy knowing what is coming next, but at the same time I hate the rigid structure it gives to my life. Damn you, OCD!!! Back to THINGS! The things I love about this software is that it allows me to work with my hands, and it allows me to stay really organized.

If any of you programmers or creative types know about Quicksilver you’ll totally understand what I’m talking about. You can set up your own short-cut keys that allow you to easily type in new todo’s on the go. I used to hate getting emails from my clients while deep in a project. However, after messing around with my THINGS preferences one day I found out that I could add short-cut keys to bring up a mini dialog box that allowed me to easily create a new todos. And it even allows me to create a link to that email or anything I had selected. That to me is a huge time saver. I can easily add a new todo and keep on working on whatever it is I am doing. I can then jump back to my todo’s for that day and there it is, and categorized under that project and when I need to get my notes for the job from the client I can easily just click on my link to the todo and wam-bam I’m there.

So, while being a great time-saver and allowing me to easily put things on my plate for the day and future days I can also keep all my jobs and daily tasks organized and in order. The greatest thing since sliced bread for a designer with OCD! I can create projects, and then I can easily add all my todo’s for my projects and the software does all the organizing based off of my simple input.

My todo's in THINGS. What do I have coming up next?

I really love how simple they made this software. I think that is one of the really special things about THINGS. It’s easy to use and so logical and well designed. A lot of people I’ve shown this software always tell me the same thing. “I LOVE YOU, AND NOW I LOVE THINGS TOO!”

Also a great plus is it comes with both an iPhone & iPad version. I use it on my iPhone, and it allows you to sync up all your todo’s wirelessly before you leave the office for the day. So if you have personal things you need to do you can easily take that list home with you from work. Or if you’re like me you have a laptop and are mobile. So, keep that in mind. If you plan on installing it on one computer, make sure it’s the one you use to do your work on. Otherwise it’s a bit of a pain to use a laptop and both a desktop. Perhaps soon they will make it so you can have a copy that will work on both laptop and desktop at the same time and sync with your phone as well.

Here are some of the other great features you can see for yourself why this is well worth purchasing.

What are you waiting for? Go get it and start using THINGS!

You can download THINGS here. Again it’s created by Cultured Code.
